Family, Friends, Goals, and Merry Christmas

12.22.2013

Well, we are fast approaching the end of 2013, and a new beginning to 2014.  Anyone feel that time is speeding way too fast?  I know I do, I just celebrated 22 years of being a Chiropractor, WOW. I remember my Mom saying wait until you are my age, then time really moves fast. I kept telling her, mom if it goes any faster we will fly off the Earth. It feels that way sometimes. It seems so strange to be asked if you qualify for the senior discount. No that is for my grandparents, wait, I am a grandparent. It is why I explain to my clients we all need to enjoy life each and every day.

This is the season to enjoy friends and family, to reminisce of the past year, Christmas's long ago, and to also look forward, to the new year. What is our goals for the 2014? This is the time I look at my goals I made for 2013. Did I achieve them? If not, are they still goals that I want to achieve? Or have they changed?

I like to write down my goals, place a date on when I made them a goal and when I want to achieve that goal. It is a target something to aim for. I find that if I don't place a date on it, then the goal is a wish, not a goal. For instance, one of my goals is to become an EMT, no I am not going into full time emergency medicine. It will augment, my clinical, and sports medicine emergency training. So I enrolled, and start classes 1.7.2013. Now if I would of never placed this as a goal, I would not be doing this now. Granted, it has been a goal of mine for two years now. However, the door would of never opened if I did not have it as a goal. So when the door opened I was able to walk down the hall towards my goal. never mind that I am 55 years old. my motto, is I will never stop learning. We are never too old to learn. I for one always want to be studying new techniques. I always want to be the top of my field of Chiropractics, if you are not always learning, you will be far behind in offering the best and latest ways of helping clients reach their health goals. I am demanding on myself, because you deserve the best of health care. One fantastic turn of events,to come out of this is that my daughter and I will be in school together. How cool is that? How many Dad's can say that! Write down your goals, it is fun to see them being achieved. If you don't make them or your goals change, no problems, they are living, breathing and always changing. Everybody makes New Years Resolutions, in two weeks 90% are long forgotten, turn the resolution into goals and watch yourself slowly achieve them.

One last thing. Merry Christmas to all, and a very Happy and Healthy New Year. You are all much loved and cherished. I know you have a choice in your health care, it is an honor to be your friend, and doctor.

Yours in health.
